Mr. Nick Wupper will be stepping into the Assistant Band Director position. Mr. Wupper has been head of percussion activities at Fruitland for the past seven years. Mr. Wupper is a Boise State University graduate. He taught band at Lake Hazel Middle School for two years and taught at FHS last year before being hired as the new band director at Fruitland Middle School. Mr Wupper lives in Fruitland with his wife, Ashleigh and their twin daughters Hayden and Hadley
Adam Hopkins will step into the role of Percussion Caption Head at Fruitland. Adam has worked with our front ensemble students for the past two years. Hopkins will be responsible for percussion activities at Fruitland. He brings a wealth of experience with him. Mr. Hopkins is a composer as well as an active percussion performer. He wrote the musical score for our 2018 show “Where the Sidewalk Ends.”
Tanner Hoseley joins our staff as Assistant Percussion Caption Head and Battery Manager. Mr. Hoseley is a Meridian High School graduate and has performed in the Boise State University Keith Stein Blue Thunder Marching Band on the snare line. Tanner also performed with the Oregon Crusaders indoor drum line in 2018. He was part of the creative team that wrote the 2019 FHS Grizzly Indoor program: “Waiting…”. 2019 marks Mr. Hoseley’s fourth season of involvement at FHS.
Drew Wilson is joining us this fall as a quad tech and sound tech. Drew will work with our quad line and help produce the soundscape for our 2019 production. Mr. Wilson is a Fruitland High School graduate. He attends Treasure Valley Community College where he performs in several musical ensembles. Drew is an avid photographer and videographer.
Chris Torres, Color Guard Caption Head, is entering his tenth year of teaching and his fifth with the Grizzly Band & Color Guard. His responsibilities will be to oversee color guard activities in both the fall and winter programs. Chris has studied dance and music composition at Boise State University. Mr. Torres has three years of ballet training. He was a performer with the Columbians Drum and Bugle Corps for two years. Chris is also an instructor with Armada Winter Guard from Boise, ID.
Fruitland is pleased to welcome Sage Moore to our guard staff. Sage will be our saber tech. Ms. Moore is a Kuna High School graduate. She marched four seasons with the Seattle Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps and is currently touring this summer with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps from Casper, WY. Sage has performed for two years with Armada Winter Guard from Boise, ID.
Emmy Orellano joins the guard staff at Fruitland this year as our flag tech. 2019 is her first season with the guard. Emmy is a Fruitland High School graduate. She performed in the Fruitland Guard for two years. Ms Orellano brings four years of dance experience to Fruitland.
Evan Crysler returns to her teaching post with the Grizzlies for her second year on our instructional staff. She will be our dance tech. Ms Crysler is an Ontario High School graduate where she spun in the guard. She has three years of jazz and contemporary dance training to share with our talented guard students.
Robert Christensen returns to the guard staff for his second year with FHS as our rifle tech. Robert is a Fruitland High School graduate. He attends Boise State University where he performs with the Boise State University Keith Stein Blue Thunder Marching Band. He has three years of marching experience with the Columbians Drum and Bugle Corps including 2019 where he was part f the corps leadership team and Guard Captain
Carly Strough-Flowers returns to our instructional staff for her eighth year and her seventh as Visual Caption Head. Strough-Flowers responsibility’s include overseeing the visual instruction for the band and guard. She creates and teaches choreography, teaches drill, and instructs marching technique to percussion and wind players. She marched three years of drum corps with the Seattle Cascades and the Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps from Casper, WY, earning the Best Visual Member award in 2009. She marched bass drum and snare drum in the Boise State University Keith Stein Blue Thunder Marching Band.
Jeff Cates returns for his 22nd season writing drill for the Fruitland Grizzlies. Jeff is a Boise State University graduate and plays horn in several ensembles in the Treasure Valley including the Serenata Orchestra and the Treasure Valley Concert Band. Jeff was a marching member of the Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps from Casper, WY. Jeff lives in Boise with his wife Linda.
Joel Williams enters his 24th year as band director in the Fruitland School District. Mr. Williams believes in a balanced band program including marching, jazz, pep band, and concert bands. He is a strong supporter of Fruitland athletics. Mr. Williams is a Boise State University graduate. Williams has been both a performer and staff member with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps from Casper, WY. He and his wife Amy live in Fruitland with their two daughters, Mikayla and Annika.
